I like to make nutrition fun for people. When I present to young school children, I juggle fruits and veggies (an obscure talent for which I’ve found good use!); have them guess the identity of fruits and vegetables by feel; and other fun things as part of my presentation. When working with adults, I talk to them about their lifestyle, daily schedule and favorite foods, so that together we can find the easiest ways for them to eat nutritiously and be physically active. Given a chance, I believe healthy foods and activity can fit into anyone’s lifestyle without too much sacrifice. And given a chance, most will even find it enjoyable! For example, besides going to the gym, I love to play the drums; and when I get going, I can really work up a sweat! And it’s definitely fun! Find a hobby, and/or other things that you enjoy and will keep you moving on a regular basis – whether it is walking, gardening, dancing, tennis, swimming, golfing, housework and/or washing the car – and you’ll be more likely to stick with it.
